Michele Raby (Torres) VIEW PROFILE

Received from Julie Zander:

Michelle was a wonderful, loyal friend, who will be greatly missed. She was a good friend to Pam McCollom and me, Julie Zander, during our freshman year at Palo Verde, the year before Sahauro opened. We hung around together constantly, watched every Palo Verde football game together, rode horses in the desert, and laughed like crazy hyenas whenever we hung out together. We smoked our first cigarettes in Michelle's parent's house and burned a hole in the rug! The rug was reversible so we turned it upside down and never got caught! We wrote each other notes constantly during that first year at Palo Verde, which I kept in a big shoe box for many years. My dad transferred to Phoenix in 1966 and our threesome sadly dissolved. In high school, I stayed in touch with Michelle and Pat even though my family lived in Scottsdale, but I lost track of both Michelle and Pat after 1970, until about 2010. Pat & I reconnected through this website (yeah!), and I was able to track down Michelle through the web. She had 2 teenage kids and was working in a pre school in Carlsbad, CA, and had worked as a Systems Engineer. It was a busy time for her with 2 kids and a sick mom. We never reconnected but I always held out hope that someday our threesome would be reunited. The obituary says that Michelle & Joe moved to Cleburne, Texas in 2013 to raise horses and farm animals, and said Michelle "had a passion for nurturing nearly every other sort of animal." She has a son who lives in Tucson and a daughter in California. Michelle was a wonderful, loyal friend who will be greatly missed. It saddens me that she was taken too soon from this world. Love you Michelle!
