Very sad to hear about Bill. He and Steve were a couple of the first kids I met when I transferred in at Sahuaro. Boy were they a hoot. I remember one lunch break Steve did something to Bill....in the cafeteria and Bill was hot! He was gonna beat the daylights out of Steve.....if he caught him. Bill chased him all over the school, both at full speed. In and out of the buildings they ran until they both got pooped out in the main yard outside the cafeteria. Of course everyone was out to watch the beating begin but they were both so tired and out of breath that they couldn't hardly stand. Everyone laughed and the bell rang and we all went back to class.  Good man that Bill.

William (Bill) Bright

I can't believe it has been almost 5 years since I last talked to Bill, but I guess that is true. We reconnected after his brother Steve passed. I knew he was in poor health, just did't realize how bad.

It may seem odd but we were pretty good friends back in high school, me a skinny little runt and Bill the football player. We didn't "hang out" day to day (like I did pretty much with Steve Holly and Rod Shaffold), but we did often hang out after games at the Pizza Hut. And after graduation, we both worked in the mines up in San Manuel as "chute tappers" - making little rocks out of big ones.

I remember one day I had my dad's big old '62 Buick Electra 225 with a monster 445CI "Wildcat" engine. Bill was riding "shotgun" and I think Steve Holly and maybe Rod Shaffold were in the back.

Steve Casey had his beloved '56 Chevy and Rod Brummett was with Steve. We raced and my dad's land yacht blew the door's off the '56. Steve was really upset - not so much for losing, but because Bill laughed and laughed and laughed!
