What a great time for all who attended. For those that missed the 40th reunion, be sure to keep up with the website and plan for the next reunion. Hopefully the 45th if the demand is great. I also hope those that went to the UA game instead of the reunion have long lasting memories of the game, as the attendees will of the reunion.

Reminiscent of My Youth
We were babies in the 50’s,
What was all the rage?
Annette, Cubby, Karen and Roy,
Really helped us come to age.
There was Ricky, Lucy, Ethel and Fred,
Howdy Doody made of wood;
It made no difference what he was made of,
We watched TV all we could.
We saw the Beaver and Wally grow up,
The Nelson boys just as well,
Queen for a Day was touching;
We saw Superman’s chest start to swell.
We started our teens in the 60’s,
The Beatles were popular then,
Pet rocks, bell bottoms and love beads;
Are starting to be in again.
Girls worried about getting a boy,
Boys worried about getting a car;
Girls wanted to get a promise ring,
But stopped boys from going too far.
The 60’s found the summer of love
Hippies were all around
Granny glasses and sit in’s,
Flower power was all abound.
We watched Ed Sullivan weekly
Topo Gigio was so cute,
With his little nose and accent;
This we can’t dispute.
We doused ourselves with baby oil;
And lay patiently in the sun,
We didn’t know it was a stupid thing;
We looked like hot dogs without the bun.
We loved and howled at Laugh In;
We all said “Here Comes the Judge”,
Henry Gibson was so poetic,
And Ruth Buzzi just wouldn’t budge.
Goldie Hawn seemed so innocent,
Joanne Worley was so loud;
Artie Johnson’s trike was tiny;
They all made TV proud.
Then we get to the 70’s,
That was the best time of our youth,
Football games and studying;
Hanging out around the old phone booth.
With adulthood quickly approaching
Graduation was at hand;
English, math and history,
We began to understand.
We’re the graduates of Sahuaro,
An open campus, first of its kind;
With gowns a flowing, and caps on our heads;
We patiently waited in line.
It’s hard to believe that it’s been forty years,
Seems like yesterday when we were there;
Insecurities starting to creep back in,
It took weeks to decide what to wear.
What an honor it is to speak to you,
Something I’ll always treasure,
Thanks to Carol for suggesting I write this poem,
Believe me ..it’s been my pleasure.
